The Boyertown 9U Advanced Play team competed in and won the Lower Perk Rebels Rumble Memorial Day Weekend Tournament. Here is a tournament recap, provided by Coach Chris Petro:

We always preach focus and effort above all else. When a group of hardworking kids with skill buy into those concepts, you get this in 5 games over 5 days in a tournament:

• Pool Play Gm#1: W 11-1
• Pool Play Gm #2: W 19-2
• Single Elim Gm #3: W 12-2
• Semi-Finals Gm #4: W 11-2
• Championship Gm #5: W 12-2

They outscored their opponents 65-9 in winning the tournament!
They truly believe in each other and play as a team!
They combined to go 44 for 94 (.468) with the bats including 13 extra base hits, 31 walks, only 15 strikeouts, and 58 stolen bases! Pitchers combined to go 5-0, 23 IP, 41 K, 11 BB

With that said, there were some tremendous individual performances in the tournament:

• Lucas H earned tournament MVP! He was 6 for 8 (.750), 2 doubles, 1 triple, 5 walks, 8 runs scored, 0 strikeouts, and 3 stolen bases! He drove in the winning runs with a double in the tournament championship!
• Ty G went 6 for 11 with 7 RBI and 6 stolen bases
• Parker M went 2 for 7 with a triple and 3 stolen bases
• James R went 5 for 7 with 7 runs scored, 5 walks, and 8 stolen bases
• All 12 boys had at least 1 hit

The pitching was outstanding!

• Camden S: 2-0, 6 IP, 10 K, 3 BB
• Colin H: 0-0, 5 IP, 10 K, 1 BB
• Chase Y: 1-0, 3 IP, 6 K, 4 BB
• Owen H: 1-0, 6 IP, 10 K, 1 BB
• Colin H: 1-0, 2 IP, 4 K, 0 BB
• Mason P: 0-0, 1 IP, 1 K, 2 BB

There was chaos on the base paths! They successfully stole a base on 58 of 61 attempts. All 12 boys had at least 2 stolen bases.

And the defense was spectacular! Bradley L, Mason N, Camden S, Lucas H, and Mason P all showed off the leather. Mason P turned 2 double plays!

This 9U Boyertown Bears squad is going places...and it won't be those stats (as great as they are) that they will be remembered for. It will be for their resiliency and being respectful, good humans! Love those kids!
