The Boyertown 11U Team went 4-0 on the weekend to earn the crown of champion in the Central Perk Baseball Tournament. They defeated Lower Gwynedd 7-1 in the championship game.
The Bears won both of their pool play games in convincing fashion, defeating Brookline 11U Select 20-7 and Mount Airy 11-1. The Bears never trailed in either game. In the Brookline game, Mason M led the Bears, going 3-4 with a walk. He was joined by quartet of Bears who all had two hits - Roman K (3 RBI), Luke M (3 RBI), Cole W, and JD H. Boyertown pitchers Kaden G, Shaun C, and Mason M combined to strike out nine Brookline batters. The second pool play game was a lopsided blowout of Mount Airy. Boyertown pitchers Bobby Y, Cole W, and Luke M combined to hold Mount Airy to only two hits and one unearned run while striking out eight. Bobby Y led Boyertown at the plate, going 3-3 with 3 RBI.
Boyertown faced Central Perk Gold in the playoff semifinals and battled to a 10-6 win. The Bears again took the early lead, plating two in the top of the first after a lead-off double by Mason M. Central Perk grabbed a run of their own in the bottom of the first but Boyertown then answered with a four-run top of the second. Alex S got things started with a lead-off single in the big inning. Boyertown added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the third and again in the top of the fourth. Walks were the difference in the game with Boyertown batters drawing an amazing ten free passes while Boyertown pitchers Bobby Y, Kaden G, and Luke M yielded only three total walks.
The championship game was another lopsided victory, this time over Lower Gwynedd. This time, the Bears were not the first to score, as Lower Gwynedd took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. They would not score again. Boyertown, meanwhile, plated their first run in the top of the second when Kaden G scored on a passed ball. Carter R drove in the go-ahead run on the next batter with a line drive up the middle. That was all Boyertown needed, as they added insurance runs in the third, fifth, and three in the top of the sixth. Carter R and Kaden G both went 2-3 to lead Boyertown batters. Cole W got the championship game pitching start for Boyertown and teamed up with relievers Roman K and Kaden G to hold Lower Gwynedd to four total hits while striking out eight and walking only one.
