The Boyertown 8U Advanced Play Team got off to a fast start as a new team, winning their first tournament, in Oley. They went 4-0 in the tournament, defeating Wilson 7-2 in the championship game.
Boyertown began the tournament in dominant fashion against Fleetwood, winning 12-0 in a no-hitter. Tyler D and Adam M shared the pitching duties for Boyertown, striking out 11 and walking only 3. The Boyertown offense was also dominant, notching 14 hits and 6 walks, with Adam M and Dylan N both going 3-3. Adam M homered in the fifth.
The second pool play game had a similarly strong showing from Boyertown pitchers Dylan N and Zane E, who limited Wilson to 4 hits in a 6-2 Boyertown victory. The Boyertown offense only got 4 hits in the game but made the most of those opportunities, including a homer by Dylan N.
Boyertown entered Sunday's playoffs as the 1 seed and did not rest on their laurels. They faced familiar opponent from pool play Fleetwood in the first round and delivered a 7-0 victory over the Tigers. Boyertown got things started in the bottom of the first with a lead-off walk by Bryce M. Adam M followed two batters later with an RBI triple to put Boyertown on the board. TJ F would plate Adam M two batters later with a single of his own, putting Boyertown ahead 2-0 after one. In the second inning, Camden S turned a leadoff walk into a run on an RBI groundout by Zane E to add another run for Boyertown. The scoring continued in the bottom of the third when Cole C and Bryce M walked and singled and then were driven in by an Adam M homer. The final Boyertown run came in the fifth when Camden S hit a leadoff triple and was scored by an Otto K line drive single. Tyler D and Dylan H shared the pitching duties for Boyertown, holding Fleetwood to 2 hits while striking out 8 and impressively walking no one.
The championship game was another pool play rematch, this time against Wilson. The outcome was nearly identical - a 7-2 Boyertown victory. Boyertown got off to a fast start in the bottom of the first, when the first four batters all recorded hits (Bryce M and Tyler D singled and Adam M and Dylan N doubled). Otto K followed two batters later with an RBI knock of his own to put Boyertown up 4-0. Wilson answered with two runs in the top of the third, only to have Boyertown regain the commanding lead in the bottom of the frame with three more runs. Doubles by Adam M and TJ F, combined with a Dylan N sac fly and an Otto K single fueled Boyertown's offense in the third. On the mound, Adam M and Tyler D combined to hold Wilson to three hits while striking out eight.
