The Boyertown 12U-B team came up just short of winning the BYBA Spring Classic, falling short in the championship game and taking second place for the tournament.
Boyertown faced Oley and host Brandywine in the pool play round. The opener against Brandywine started out hot, with Boyertown jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but they were unable to hold the lead. Bradywine answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the frame and then took the lead for good in the bottom of the second, eventually winning 7-4. In pool play game 2, Boyertown again jumped out to an early lead, capturing two runs in the top of the first. This time, they never relinquished the lead en route to a 9-5 victory. Boyertown swung hot bats in the game, tallying 10 hits. Dylon J and Brayden P lead the way, going 3-3 and 2-3, respectively, with 2 RBI each. Ryan Y, Christian C, and Jackson K all hit doubles. Dimitri K and Jake K dazzled from the mound, striking out 8 Oley batters.
The Bears entered the playoffs as the top seed from their division, earning first round bye. Their semifinal opponent was Kutztown, with Boyertown coming away with a convincing 14-0 win. Boyertown got things started in the bottom of the first when the first five batters reached base safely. They ended up scoring four runs in the frame, highlighted by an RBI double by Dimitri K and a 2 RBI single by Christian C. The bottom of the second had a similar feel, with the first six batters reaching base successfully. The Bears ended up scoring three runs in the second, widening their lead to 7-0. They doubled that margin with a 7-run exclamation point in the bottom of the third, highlighted by a 3-run single by Bryson R. Dylon J and Jake K teamed up to earn the pitching shutout, scattering four Oley hits over four innings while not walking a batter.
The championship game was a battle of Boyertown Area teams, with the Boyertown 12U-B Bears facing off against Pine Forge. The Bears were never able to break through against Pine Forge pitching, falling 10-2. Dimitri K and Christian C had RBI hits in the top of the fourth to narrow the Pine Forge lead to 4-2, but could get no closer.
