The Boyertown 12U Fall team completed a picture-perfect weather weekend of baseball with a 7-4 victory over the host Quakertown Panthers to capture the tournament championship. Boyertown went 4-0-1 in the tournament, including 2 playoff wins, to take the title.
The tournament began Friday evening with a tight contest with Southern Lehigh ending in a 4-4 tie. Boyertown rallied from a 4-2 deficit to tie it in the top of the sixth, thanks to clutch singles by Cole N and Tyler T. Jayden M shook off a lead-off double in the bottom of the sixth by striking out two and inducing a pop-up to hold the tie score and end the game. The Bears cruised to an 11-6 victory in game 2 against Glenside, fueled by 12 hits. The third game, against Nor-Gwyn, was a tight pitcher's duel with Boyertown scoring all 3 of their runs in the bottom of the third inning, thanks to a 2 RBI single by Tyler T. Connor H and Jackson K shared the mound duties, scattering 6 combined Nor-Gwyn hits over 6 innings.
The first round playoff game was a rematch of the pool play opener. The rematch had just as much excitement as the opener, with the teams trading runs and the lead multiple times, including a lead-off homer by Jameson Y in the bottom of the second. Boyertown entered the bottom of the sixth and final inning trailing 5-4. This time, they would not be denied. Boyertown batters Jackson K, Alex S, CJ C, and Cole N hit four straight singles, knotting the game at 5. Several batters later, Jameson Y delivered the walk-off single on a 1-2 count with 2 out, an at-bat where he fouled off 4 straight pitches before the game-winning knock.
Boyertown fed off of the momentum from the round 1 playoff victory and jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings in the championship game. Quakertown clawed back four runs in the last two innings but was unable to complete the comeback. Cole N and Jameson Y each had 2 hits in the championship game and the pitching trio of Cole N, Connor H, and Jayden M held Quakertown to 4 hits over six innings.
