The Boyertown 9U team was part of a 3-team Boyertown sweep at Cal Ripken Districts, beating Quakertown 17-0 to earn the 2021 9U PA Cal Ripken League District 6 title.
Boyertown got off to a good start in the first game of the tournament, handling Quakertown 7-3. The difference in the game was the quality of Boyertown pitchers Brendon S, Sam N, and Corey P, who held Quakertown batters to four total hits and three walks while striking out a breathtaking ten batters. Meanwhile, Boyertown hitters took advantage of 10 free passes from Quakertown pitching to notch the victory. Timely hits by Declan K (2 RBI), Logan S (1 RBI) and Dominic W were all Boyertown needed to come out on top.
Game two was a Boyertown runaway, with the team easily dispatching with Upper Perk 12-1 in four innings. Boyertown pitchers (Hudson C, Collin P, and Declan K) were again dominant, holding Upper Perk to two total hits and an impressive zero walks. Boyertown bats joined the party, notching 10 hits while only striking out once. Garrett O and Hudson C led the way with two hits each.
The championship game was a rematch with round 1 foe and winner of the loser's bracket Quakertown. Perhaps Boyertown felt that their previous 7-3 win over this opponent was too close because they showed no mercy in the rematch. After taking a 2-0 lead in the first, Boyertown plated a shocking 15 runs in the bottom of the second to put the game out of reach and eventually end it after a mercy rule-shortened 3 innings. Everything went well for Boyertown, who held Quakertown to 1 hit and 2 walks off of another strong pitching performance, this time from Brendon S and Hudson C. Meanwhile,. Boyertown batters recorded 7 knocks while walking 11 times, all in only two innings. Brendon S (2-3, 2 RBI) and Hudson C (2-3, 3 RBI) each recorded a multi-hit game for Boyertown.
