The Boyertown 11U Advanced Play team won the Upper Merion King of Swing Tournament, defeating Roxborough 9-7 in the championship game. The team rallied back after going 1-1 in pool play to take both of its playoff games en route to the championship.
Boyertown lost their first pool play game 4-3 to Upper Dublin, falling just short of a comeback after scoring two in the top of the last inning. The team put the loss behind them in their next pool play game against Nether Swarthmore, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first and never trailing on the way to a 6-3 victory.
In their first round playoff game against host Upper Merion, Boyertown dominated on the mound and at the plate, racking up 10 hits while holding Upper Merion to 2. Cole N got the pitching start for Boyertown, going 5 strong innings and striking out 8 while yielding only 1 hit. Jayden M entered in relief and threw an impressive 11-pitch, 9-strike inning, fanning 2. Four players had a multi-hit game for Boyertown - Connor H, Jameson Y, TJ B, and Jackson K, each with 2 knocks.
The championship game was a back-and-forth affair, with Roxborough jumping to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd, only to have Boyertown answer with 3 runs of their own in the top of the 3rd, capped by an RBI double by Tyler T. Roxborougn retook the lead in the bottom of the third by scoring two more runs. Not to be deterred, Boyertown rallied back in the top of the 4th, taking a 5-4 lead. After Roxborough scored one run in each of their following innings to take a 6-5 lead, Boyertown hung a crooked number in the top of the 6th to take a commanding and decisive 9-6 lead. Taking a cue from the name of the tournament, four Boyertown batters had 2 hits in the championship game - Tyler T, Connor H, TJ B, and Joey G. Tyler T and Jameson Y handled the pitching duties for Boyertown in the game, striking out a combined 11 batters.
