Yesavage makes MLB debut!

BMBL alum Trey Yesavage made his MLB debut with the Toronto Blue Jays tonight after a meteoric rise through their minor league system!

Drafted with the 20th overall pick in the 2024 MLB draft out of East Carolina University, Trey began the 2025 season with the Dunedin Blue Jays, the Blue Jays single A affiliate. He dominated at that level, striking out 55 of the 127 batters he faced over 33.1 innings in his 7 starts with a 2.43 ERA. He was quickly promoted to High A Vancouver, where he was somehow even better, notching a 1.56 ERA over 17.1 innings, striking out just under half of the batters he faced (33 of 69). Again, he was on the move, this time to the AA New Hampshire Fisher Cats. At this level he again struck out more than one batter per inning, to the tune of 46 K's in 30.0 innings pitched. On August 11th, the Blue Jays again promoted Trey, this time to AAA Buffalo, where he would strike out 26 over 4 starts before his big league call-up.

His Major League debut came against the Tampa Bay Rays on the road on September 15, 2025. It is worth noting that this Toronto Blue Jays team was in the middle of a pennant race, sporting the best record in the American League with only a couple of weeks left in the season. This call-up was not a "garbage time" September call-up, this was a call-up by a team seeking to add to their playoff arsenal. Trey's MLB debut was as dazzling as the rest of his 2025 minor league campaign. After giving up a run on two hits in the first inning, Trey proceeded to shut down the Rays, striking out 9 batters over five innings to set a Blue Jays record for an MLB debut. He only allowed one hit after the first inning, and in the third and fourth innings struck out five straight batters. Watch this video to see his debut highlights!

Trey graduated from Boyertown High School in 2021 after a run to the District 1 championship game and a trip to the PIAA state playoffs. Trey played on a loaded BMBL Junior Division Advanced Play team alongside fellow 2024 draftee Cole Hertzler, where they went 47-1-3 as Black Bears in 2016.

Congratulations to Trey and best wishes on a long and successful big league career!
