Boyertown Team Hartline won the BSE Columbus Day Double Elimination tournament this weekend. After losing their second game on Saturday, the team went 4-0 on Sunday to capture the championship. The weekend was twice as nice for Boyertown teams, as Boyertown Team Reed also won their division in the tournament.
Boyertown won a tight 3-2 contest with Trappe Thunder to secure the championship. Parker C pitched Boyertown to victory, going the distance in a time-shortened 3-inning game. Parker C and Nathan L led Boyertown at the plate, each going 2-for-2 in the game.
Boyertown started the 6-team double elimination tournament with a 11-4 victory over CC Bobcats Jameson Y and Shayne H both went 3-3 at the plate to lead Boyertown in the game. In game 2, Boyertown lost a tight contest with EBYA Bulls by a score of 3-2 to fall into the loser's bracket. Both teams turned in strong pitching performances in the game, with Cole N scattering 2 hits over 4 1/3 innings while striking out 2. Jameson Y had a 2-hit game for Boyertown.
Their game 2 loss on Saturday meant every game on Sunday would be an elimination game, leaving no margin for error. Team Hartline rose to the challenge, winning two sets of back-to-back games to battle through the loser's bracket and win the championship. In the first contest, they defeated 3-up 3-down Baseball by a score of 12-7. Cole N led Boyertown hitters with a 3-3 game, including a triple. Game two on Sunday saw Boyertown fall behind 6-3 in the bottom of the third inning, only to put up a 4-spot in the top of the 6th and final inning to defeat BC Reapers 7-6. Game three on Sunday was a rematch with EBYA Bulls, and this time Boyertown would emerge victorious by a 13-9 margin. Gavin T turned in a strong pitching performance, striking out 7 over 3 1/3 innings. Quin D went 3-3 at the plate to lead Boyertown hitters.
